Triangulations

Like many people, I spend a lot of time in the car.  Unlike many, I do not find music soothing while driving--I'm missing the music gene I guess.

Anyway, I enjoy the time in the car to catch up on Podcasts.  There are many out there, but I tend to favor the ones done by Leo Laporte's Twit.tv.   Leo is a professional broadcaster of many year's experience.  He has started an awesome online tech news network.  His professionalism makes for great programs.

I tend to listen to two shows primarily.  "This Week in Google", broadcast live on Wednesdays, with podcasts available for download on Wednesday nights.  And "This Week in Tech", broadcast Sundays with podcasts available later that night.

However, I spend more time in the car then the duration of those two shows.  Twit's other shows are excellent, but not as compelling to me as those two are.

However, they do have one show I hadn't paid much attention to until recently.  Triangulations is a one hour interview with significant people in tech.  They are either those that have been around a while, with an interesting history, or a compelling take on technology.

Each is a fascinating story.  If anything, an hour is never long enough with these wonderful folks.  I'm about half way through the backlog of 32 episodes.  I'll hate it when I am caught up and can enjoy only one a week instead of the two or three a week I'm now consuming.

Notes Folder : My new note taking system

I'm in the process of moving to a new way to keep my notes. It would be best to make a separate post on my long time notetaking app, Evernote, and how it now disappoints me.  Bottom line, I no longer trust the company behind Evernote since it was acquired. Recording your own notes with Google Voice

Note :   April 2016:  Frankly I don't know if this works anymore.  It is 7 years old. I stopped using this when Google Now became useful on my phone, and I could dictate reminders using it. I found a way a while ago to use Google Voice to record a personal note, transcribe it, and email it to me. A recent Lifehacker post "Five Things We'd Like to See in Google Voice" lists that need as their #5 request, so I realized what I'd figured out is not common knowledge. In GV's Contacts, create a Group "Special Transcription" To avoid listening to my standard voice mail when I call, I recorded a short voice mail greeting for this group simply saying "Record note now" I added a contact with my own cell phone number as the only number, and made it the sole member of this group.
