Once upon a time I wrote a weekly tech column for the local paper called Family Tech. I tried to focus on topics not for geeks, but the practical tech families could use to make life just a bit easier.
This topic would have been a natural for the column.
With AI, you can make your own children’s story books to read aloud to your child or grandchild, or let them read to themselves. It can even read them aloud to the child while they follow along with the book.
Creating them is as easy as going to Google’s Gemini Artificial Intelligence and typing “Help 5 year old Amy to not be frightened of dogs.”.
A minute or two later it came up with this.
Try it out, its free to look at.
Or you can get more detailed in your description :
Prompt : Create a story about Batkid, the boy in San Francisco that got to help Batman for a day as his Make-a-Wish wish. His real name is Miles Scott. His day was one of celebration as he'd completed chemotherapy and his leukemia was in remission. Be sure to mention at the end that he is now 17 years old and his leukemia remains in remission. Explain what remission means.
There is a Wikipedia article about him.
This was the result
And you can do different styles.
Prompt : make a storybook in manga comics style about a 10 year old boy and his dog,, both of whom are superheroes who can fly.
Reading the storybooks are free. Making them though requires a $20 a month subscription to Gemini. The good news though if you have a Google account, you can get a a free month of Gemini. If you do not have a Google account, you can get one for free.
Does your grandchild live far away? Make the book on your PC, then email them the link to the story to where ever they are. Let them know you are thinking of them.
